Metropolist Wedding in Seattle | Angela + Chris
Angela and Chris were married at Metropolist, in the industrial quiet of Seattle's SoDo neighborhood, on a day that carried both of their families in it. The ceremony moved between two traditions without ever feeling divided. A tea served with both hands. A ring exchanged. Two sets of parents watching the same daughter, the same son.
The vows are the center of this film. Angela made it most of the way through hers before her voice caught, and Chris waited without rushing her, and the room waited with them. That pause is in the footage because it was the truest thing that happened all day.

The Woodinville Lavender Wedding | Amy + Jon
Amy and Jon spent years on opposite sides of an ocean before they spent a day at a lavender farm in Woodinville. I sat down with each of them separately before the wedding and asked them to tell me how it worked, and how it almost did not, and what it cost. I had to stop recording once to collect myself.
The first look happened with the rows running out behind them toward the hills, purple going soft in the late light. Amy stood there a while before she touched his shoulder. Jon turned around slowly, the way people do when they already know and want the moment to last a second longer.
The day ended with sparklers, everyone they love pressed into two lines, the two of them running through the middle of it.

The Town Club Wedding in Portland | Christina & Chad
Christina and Chad were married at the Town Club, a 1930 brick clubhouse tucked into the West Hills above downtown Portland. The building has ninety years of Portland in it, the tile roof and the wood and the courtyard that opens toward the city, and it gave the day a kind of settled quality from the first hour.

Danza del Sol Winery Wedding | Debbie + Vincent
Debbie and Vincent were married at Danza del Sol, out where the Temecula Valley opens up and the vineyard rows run to the edge of the lawn. The heat sat on the property most of the afternoon and then let go all at once, right around the time the ceremony started, and the light went long and gold across the rows behind them.

Willow Heights Manson Wedding in Morgan Hill | Sherry + Jonathan
Sherry and Jonathan were married on the lawn at Willow Heights, up on the hills above Morgan Hill, with the valley opening out behind them and the vineyard rows running down the slope. Guests sat facing that view for the whole ceremony. Half of them were watching the couple and half of them kept looking past.

Ray's Boathouse Wedding in Seattle | Victoria & Jonathan
Victoria and Jonathan were married out on the water in Ballard, on the deck at Ray's, with Shilshole Bay below them and the Olympics across the Sound. The tide was in. You can hear it under the boards in the quiet parts of the film, and once, faintly, a boat coming back through the channel behind them.
